Coffee is a brewed beverage made from roasted coffee beans, which are fruits from the coffee
plant . Coffee is one of the world's most widely consumed drinks, and it not just is a drink for
almost any occassion.Coffee is a religion too.


Disclaimer: I drink coffee on a regular basis, usually at least two times every morning and at
least one in the afternoons.I can say I have become obsessed, even snobbish with coffee
within the past two or three years.I think coffee, when brewed and served correctly, is basically
fine art and thus a perfect subject for informed opinion.


Being such a coffee snob , I have read and still read a lot about it.This includes various brewing
methods,experiments with different coffee types, the coffee rithuals ,etcetera.My favorite part of
this "researches" is to collect some little known or not know real facts about the coffee.
Today I'll share just the most interesting ones of them.

 

1)Coffee is the third most popular drink in the world, just after the water and tea.

 

2) Coffee is the world’s second most valuable traded commodity after petroleum,


3)Coffee grows in at least 70 countries around the world, and the first five of them are Brazil,
Vietnam,Colombia,Indonesia,Ethiopia.Brazil has been the highest global producer of coffee
beans for over 150 years.


4)Central and South America produce approximately two thirds of the world’s coffee supply.


5)Despite its known plusses, coffee can be deadly.Actually caffeine in cofee can kill you.The
lethal dose of caffeine is roughly 100 cups of coffee.

 

6)It takes approximately 42 coffee beans to make an average serving of espresso.

 


7)The longer coffee is roasted, the more caffeine is cooked from the bean.This means light
roast coffee has more caffeine that dark roast coffee.

 

8)Decaf Coffee actually has Caffeine!
If you drink five to 10 cups of decaffeinated coffee, you could get as much caffeine as from one
or two cups of caffeinated coffee, a study found.


9)The two main commercially grown and sold species of coffee beans are Coffea Arabica and
Coffea Robusta.More than three-quarters of the beans that are sold in the world today are
Arabica,while the major part of the remainding bulk are Robusta.

luwak coffee includes part-digested coffee cherries eaten and defecated by the Asian palm
civet.

caffeine reaches maximum concentration, making you most alert.

 

13)Espresso has only about 1/3 of the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee.

15)Studies show that a typical serving of coffee contains more antioxidants than a serving of
